Join us in 2017 for an exciting and magical adventure into the stretches of the mind, the body, and the earth. Stay inside the Sanctuary where wild mustangs roam, and feel your imagination stirred by the ancient land. Spend a full day nourishing yourself with yoga, meditation, art, and healthy food topped off with an evening in one of the eco-cabins situated inside the Sanctuary. You’ll be surrounded by pine trees, hooting owls, and a luminous starry sky.
During this one-night retreat, we will be venturing out onto the land to visit with the wild herd. It’s hard to bring words to such a sacred experience, and the impact that it has upon all who meet them. Central to this retreat, our interactions with the wild horses will stir our imaginations, expand our sense of wonder, and transform the way we experience our dreams, our bodies, our minds, each other, and the world.
Kindle your imagination with an experience unlike anything else. Let the land and the horses remind you of what it means to live a wildly imaginative, embodied, and creative life. Their very presence will launch you heart first into your dreams, and reconnect you with the intuition of your Soul.
Get wild, earthy and creative with us this winter at GEMS. Join us for an experience you’ll never forget.
Great Escape Mustang Sanctuary
Situated on a vast 850 acres of pine forest and grasslands where wild Mustangs roam, the stunning and magical Great Escape Mustang Sanctuary will be our home. Rooting into the surrounding land, this expansive terrain will house and initiate our journey into our bodies and minds.
Body & Mind
Through the collaboration of various practices and techniques, we will journey through both the wild terrain where GEMS Mustangs live, as well as the inner terrain of our imaginations.
Through these various modalities, we will be communicating with the land, the Mustangs and our own wild imaginations.

"Our soul knows we are designed for a bigger, more sensuous, and more imaginative life." Francis Weller
As an embodied practice, Yoga lends itself to the exploration of our cellular imaginations. The body and the mind come together through various shapes and stories of the asanas (yoga postures), opening us up literally and metaphorically to the creative process.
Horses have symbolized freedom, journeying, and the cyclic and creative nature of life for thousands of years. As gate-keepers to other worlds, they stand at the threshold where the veil is thinnest, welcoming us toward self-discovery. Calling to our deep imagination, Horses draw forth from the shadows the wild and creative nature of our Soul.
Art is an outward expression of what is hidden inside of us. As imaginative beings, we have the creative potential to make our inward passions and inspirations a part of our outward, physical experience.
Dreams are the wild terrain of the psyche where our imaginations press us beyond reason and logic into the realm of endless creativity and possibility. They are the place where we are warmed by the silver light of a full moon; where we journey to subterranean forests; and, where horses speak to us in the language of intuition.
